If you're still craving for more, Venice offer some more amazing places to visit.
The islands of the Venetian lagoon are the perfect blend between the traditions and the true essence of the city. Here you can enjoy the artisianal aspect of the city, made by the citizen that still live in this beautiful and colorful houses. During this day you can take a seat in the waterbus and let it take you to the islands of the lagoon.
You should visit at least Murano, Burano and Torcello.
But if you have more time to spend we recommend you to take again the waterbus from Fondamente Nove (back in Venice) and check out San Lazzaro degli Armeni in the afternoon, San Giorgio Maggiore, or the Venice Lido.
In Murano you can experience to see the maestri vetrai working the world-famous Murano Glass. There are, in fact, demonstration every day lasting 1/2 hours.
Our glasses and vases in the hotel Do Ciacole and the restaurant come from this island and in particular, from the hands of the Maestro Vetraio Gabriele Urban of the furnace La Fornasotta. You can check also the Ex Chiesa Santa Chiara a former church that now is a glass working furnace, it's actually also called the Glass Cathedral.
From here the waterbus can take you to a farther island, Burano, with the famous colorful houses that you see in all the pictures. The reason behind this is that during fall and winter the fog covered all the landscape and this was the gimmik for the citizen to find their way back home.
On the southern side of the lagoon you can visit the beautiful island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni with the sanctuary and the garden, or lose yourself in the maze of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
Proceeding with the waterbus you can reach the Lido of Venice , the house of the film festival.
Another interesting island is San Servolo, known for being the island of the mad and now the house of the Insane Asylum Museum. Treat yourself with food
In these islands you can also find some amazing places to have lunch. Treat yourself with the risotto alla buranella, spaghetti con le peverasse, and grilled fish. Here the fish is the main component of the dishes and you can be sure that is fresh.
